Four more days to see the show at LVC!

I am really happy to be a part of this juried show at Lebanon Valley College with many wonderful artists.  I really enjoy this gallery.  It is intimate and small enough that you can really soak the whole show in without being overwhelmed.  My Wood fired Box with Orange Stripe got an honorable mention award.

Going on the Urban Pottery Tour in Philadelphia

This past weekend I visited The Clay Studio to see the Small Favors Inside the Box exhibition and went on the Urban Pottery Tour with my friend and fellow artist Joanne Cassaro.   It was a wonderful experience to meet the artists who work in Philadelphia and their invited guests, some of whom I had met at workshops or shows and some of whom I felt like I knew because I had learned so much from them through ceramics publications or the internet.   Equally wonderful was to see all the work in clay and the studios where it is made.  Here is just a glimpse of what we saw:

Ceramics and Naps

I liked this handy tip that I found in an article called, The Art of Aging by Sparrow published in The Sun:

Napping is an art, like ceramics.  A great nap can reinvent a day.  You awake to clearer, fresher air - happier air. And old people are allowed to nap.  In fact, it's considered a virtue.

I liked it because they mention ceramics.  I have always hated naps - mostly the waking up part.  Obviously I need to practice the art of napping!

I got into two shows! This one is at the Clay Studio in Philadelphia.

Small Favors: Think Inside the Box

March 3 through May 27, 2017

From The Clay Studio:

Thousands of artists from around the country have participated in our annual Small Favors exhibition in Philadelphia over the past decade. There is a single parameter, to fit the work inside a 4-inch cube. Some artists treat the cube as a small gallery or diorama, while others use the challenge to explore new work on a small scale. By responding to both opportunities and boundaries Small Favors: Thinking Inside the Box will offer visitors a highly concentrated yet widely varied collection of intimate affordable sculpture.

Juror's Statement from Michael Radyk:

I was very excited to be a juror for the Small Favors: Think Inside the Box exhibition this year. The selected artists represent a marriage of concentration, sensitivity, and design. The exhibition makes small noble, and invites us to stop, focus, and look. In the selected works you can find big ideas, individuality, and material awareness. For me, the overall goal of an exhibition like Small Favors is to find delight and joy in those tiny spaces.

Hi,  Welcome to my brand new website featuring my ceramic work at www.msepots.com.   I have collected images of my work from the wood kiln and my electric kiln.   Also included are some images of my pots being used for food and for flower arrangements as well as some information about how I make my work.  Please take a look and let me know what you think.   Thanks!  Margaret
